About

My Story

I started my journey in sound before I turned 5 years old; I was incessantly drumming on anything that I could find. Eventually, I decided it was time to graduate from pots, pans, and pillows, and began taking proper drum lessons. This starting point led me down several musical paths. I began learning other instruments and DAWs; I began writing music and creating more seriously.

I spent a lot of my musical life performing, and got involved with traditional Scottish-Celtic music at a very young age. I spent over 10 years playing with the Dartmouth and District Pipe Band as a snare drummer where I performed and competed all over Canada, and even had the chance to travel so Scotland to do so internationally.

In 2021, I completed my Bachelor of Music in percussion with a heavy focus on performance, composition, arranging, and music theory. Over my 4 years of studying I had become fascinated with the works of various composers–Cage, Lucier, Crumb–that blur the line between music and sound. I became invested in the sounds of everyday life and their importance in how we interpret the world around us, and worlds created in story-telling media.

I moved to the West Coast to study at VFS and learn how to technically apply my creativity and love of sound to film and game, and to help to create more complete storytelling experiences in the process. As of today, I’ve worked on several projects for film shorts and games, and have always aimed to highlight the sounds that can escape audiences’ attention, and build a more complete and captivating aural experience.
